Species: American White Pelican (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos)
Location: Perry Lake Outlet Channel, Jefferson County, Kansas, United States
Age: ---     Plumage: basic/non-breeding     Activity: foraging/eating
Sex: ---     Visibility: partial body     Quantity: multiple
Photographer: David Seibel     Date: October 1, 2016
Equipment: Canon EOS-1D Mark IV and Canon 500mm f/4L IS     Megapixels: 16.0

Notes: These pelicans demonstrated a common behavior ("cooperative" fishing) in an uncommon way, thanks to a submerged net that had trapped a number of small fish. The bird on the left found the net and was quickly joined by the three others. They worked at extracting the fish for several minutes with limited success.
